Lead Backend Engineer
At Visma Labs in Košice, a team of 200+ professionals is shaping the future by developing and supporting over 20 innovative products. We are now looking for a Lead BACKEND ENGINEER to join us and play a key role in our new project.

Finmatics is a fast-growing software as a service (SaaS) product by Visma that provides artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to thousands of businesses of all sizes. Our mission is to automate financial & accounting processes to eliminate unnecessary manual tasks.

Finmatics currently has 24 engineers working remotely, most of them based in Vienna. They are organized into two teams and collaborate closely across locations. We are now building a new team in Slovakia. While we have an office in Košice, you can work fully remotely if you prefer.
Your Opportunity
As a Lead Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing our backend architecture. You will lead the development of scalable, high-quality software while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with the frontend and other system components.
Your Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and microservices.
Drive technical decisions and define best practices for backend architecture.
Implement clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following industry best practices.
Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and designers to develop integrated solutions.
Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability.
Ensure a high level of security and data protection.
Utilize cloud technologies and DevOps tools to streamline development and deployment processes.
Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and mentoring of junior developers.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in software development, including at least 2 years in a tech leadership or a similar role
Proficiency in at least one backend-related programming language, and at least one scripting language, with Python being highly preferred.
Expert knowledge in backend development and cloud architectures.
Proficient in developing and deploying microservices in distributed environments with a strong understanding of DevOps principles and processes.
Practical experience and good knowledge of Event-Driven Architectures and Systems
Proven experience with NoSQL and RDBMS databases.
Strong understanding of modern data science principles and tools.

Financial expectations
Gross salary starts from 4200 EUR. 💸 Keep in mind that we are open to discussing your salary based on your competence and experience.
