Medior DevOps Engineer

Role Overview

As a DevOps Engineer on our team, you will play a critical role in driving our DevOps practices and infrastructure automation. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining our Azure-based cloud architecture and deployment pipelines to support our rapidly growing application portfolio. 

Your expertise in Azure, Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions, Bash scripting, networking, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform will be instrumental in improving our operational efficiency, reducing manual effort, and ensuring the reliability and scalability of our systems.

Additionally, experience with Kubernetes will be highly valued as we work towards adopting a containerised microservices architecture.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain robust Azure infrastructure, including virtual networks, Azure Functions, and other PaaS offerings

• Automate the provisioning, configuration, and deployment of infrastructure and applications using Terraform, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions and Bash scripting

• Develop and optimise CI/CD pipelines to streamline the software delivery process

• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure the health and performance of our Azure-hosted applications (Azure Monitor, Grafana)

• Collaborate with development teams to embed DevOps practices and principles, fostering a culture of automation and continuous improvement

• Stay up-to-date with the latest Azure services, features, and best practices, and recommend/implement relevant updates

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members

• Continually evaluate and recommend improvements to our DevOps toolchain and processes

Required Skills and Experience

• 2+ years of experience in a DevOps environment

• Proficient in Azure cloud services, including virtual networks, Azure Functions, and other PaaS offerings. Extensive experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform ( state handling, plans, outputs, modules, Bicep, nice to have)

• Monitoring - Alerts, Dynamic Thresholds, Application Insights, Log Workspace analytics, Grafana

• Other - git, certificates (generation, handling), bash, high availability, deployment strategies, scaling strategies

• Experience with  scripting in Bash/PowerShell

• Familiarity with containerization technologies, such as Docker/Podman/OCI and Kubernetes (experience with Kubernetes is a plus)

• Solid understanding of networking concepts, including load balancing, DNS, and security

• Experience with CI/CD tools, such as Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions ( yaml, approval gates, permissions setup, policies setup)

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
